To herald the start of summer we invite Elisha Kennedy to Studio Local to host Word Studies - a considered study of the written word at 3pm on Saturday the the 8th of December.
Elisha, a freelance Writer, Editor and Producer will guide us in our own efforts towards meaningful communications, whether it be creative writing, editorial, copywriting for business or poetry. This class is for all levels of experience and is an open workshop for any person looking to gain structure and direction in their pursuit of the written word.
At times, writing can feel isolating or intimidating, this workshop has been designed as a mini writer's retreat and will teach you how to write with purpose and clarity under gentle guidance. We will also learn about the relationship between what is written and what is visual, and at the end of the workshop we will each be given the time and space to write a piece of prose, using a tableau as stimulus.
No need to bring any materials, each guest will leave with new knowledge and notes, a tote bag by IN BED store filled with lovely pens from Muji, and a cahier from Supply Paper Co. in which to continue your creative writing practice at home.
To help you ease into the workshop, inspired and unencumbered, Hither + Yon have supplied their beautiful "2018 Rose" which we will enjoy with cheese and chocolate as we write - necessities of the process, of course.
Elisha Kennedy - a writer, editor and producer based in NSW. She works with brands such as IN BED, INCU and PAMPA and has written for mastheads like Australian Traveller, Anyonegirl's WAIST magazine, Broadsheet and The Design Files. Having studied Creative Writing with a focus on Environmental Literature, Elisha is curious about the interrelationship between language and concepts of Nature.
